Finally, after three long years I am released from all my studently duties for the summer. No, wait, I still owe my committee a journal paper from my thesis work… hmmm.
But, seriously, it’s warm, sometimes beautiful and feel less guilty taking time off now than I did during the semester. I do not have to worry about classes or getting my research done or writing my thesis… until it starts all over again in August.
Summer though, what a great season, so much potential. I usually have my calendars fully stocked with planned trips and booked plane tickets, but this time I’m winging it.. mostly because work won’t make any concrete plans. I also live in the middle of nowhere Kansas now so that adds to the difficulty. Nonetheless, I’ll make it work, somehow.
So, where to?
Has anyone noticed how undergrad graduation robes keep getting more and more overwhelming? The number of ropes, hoods, greek swag and sash things keeps growing I feel like it’s a competition to see who can wear the most. But why? Who wants to wear more layers at graduation in the heat when you’re snug between the 4000 other undergrads for 3 hours? At the end of the ceremony, aren’t they all getting the same degree, give or take a requirement or two?
Kids these days.
